Job Title: Agriculture Classroom Aide
Location: Miami Junior Senior High School
Classification: Non-Exempt, Classified Compensation Plan, 9-month Work Calendar; Part-Time up to 14 hours/week
Hourly Rate: $16.40
Position Summary:
The Agriculture Classroom Aide provides essential support to the Agriculture Department,
assisting the teacher in classroom instruction, hands-on learning, and industry-related activities.
The aide helps manage classroom logistics, supports student learning, maintains equipment and
supplies, and performs clerical duties, allowing the teacher to focus on instructional delivery.
This position is critical to fostering a safe, engaging, and productive learning environment for
high school students (grades 9–12).
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Relevant technical, agricultural, or industry experience preferred
- Ability to work effectively with students, staff, and parents
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to operate general office machines
- Organizational, time management, and prioritization skills
- Ability to safely operate and maintain agricultural equipment
- Experience with youth agricultural programs such as FFA or 4-H is preferred but not
required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Instructional Support:
- Assist the Agriculture teacher with lesson preparation and classroom instruction
- Support hands-on learning activities, including lab work, greenhouse experiments, and
animal care
- Help supervise students during classroom, lab, and field activities to ensure safety and
engagement
- Reinforce student learning through individual or small-group support
Agricultural and Technical Support:
- Operate and maintain agricultural equipment, including tractors, trailers, greenhouse
systems, irrigation systems, and other relevant machinery
- Feed, water, and care for animals as assigned
- Assist with planting, harvesting, or maintaining crops, gardens, or greenhouse areas
- Conduct light facility maintenance, such as spraying weeds, fueling equipment, and
maintaining clean work areas
Clerical and Administrative Support:
- Maintain student records, attendance, and classroom documentation
- Assist with scheduling, travel forms, purchase orders, registrations, and deposits
- Track and maintain classroom supplies, tools, and equipment inventory
- Submit a monthly work calendar and maintain regular attendance
Other Duties:
- Attend departmental or school meetings as requested
- Perform additional tasks assigned by the Agriculture teacher or site administrator
Supervision:
- Reports to the Agriculture classroom teacher and site administrator
- Works under general supervision, exercising judgment in carrying out assigned duties
Work Environment:
- Combination of classroom, laboratory, greenhouse, and outdoor environments
- Involves occasional lifting, bending, and operation of agricultural machinery
- Requires adherence to all safety protocols for students and equipment
Job Title: Lunch Monitor
Location: Miami Junior Senior High School
Classification: Non-Exempt, Classified Compensation Plan, 9-month Work Calendar; Part-Time up to 14 hours/week
Hourly Rate: $16.40
General Statement of Responsibilities: To ensure safety and security in the lunch and outdoor areas around lunch time.
Principal Duties:
- Follow duty schedules as prescribed by the building administrator/immediate supervisor.
- Work cooperatively with principals to carry out duties as prescribed by principal.
- Supervise students (small or large groups) in at designated crossings.
- Assist in lifting, carrying, and moving students when necessary.
- Maintain good attendance.
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Report areas of concern regarding discipline witnessed in the area.
- Report safety concerns to the immediate supervisor/building principal.
- Communicate with students/teachers/parents/community.
Knowledge and skills required:
- Knowledge of general safety rules and techniques.
- Skill in observing the activities of others.
- Skill in communicating verbally.
- Skill in establishing and maintaining working relationships with others.
Physical Requirements: Ability to stay alert and monitor the activities of students. Ability to stand for long periods of time in various weather conditions.
Minimum Qualifications: Must be at least 18 years of age and possess a High School Diploma or GED.
